Colleagues in the Department of Finance Ireland took home the award for Strategic Policy Development at the recent 9th Civil Service Excellence and Innovation Awards for the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund. The Future Ireland Fund will help deal with future expenditure pressures including ageing, climate, digitalisation and other economic challenges. The Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund will assist with climate change objectives and provide resources for spending in any future economic downturn to support expenditure through the economic and fiscal cycle. 👏 Well done to our colleagues in Department of Finance Ireland!Read more about the funds below ⬇ https://lnkd.in/e-BmeUBy#CSEIA #BetterPublicServices

    Yesterday (Wednesday 26 June), Minister Paschal Donohoe paid a visit to Tallaght to chair a meeting of the Project Ireland 2040 Delivery Board. The meeting was held in WorkIQ Tallaght in the Tallaght Innovation Quarter. This facility is a newly-completed workspace building providing a managed and supported workspace for up to 60 tech start-up businesses, owned by South Dublin County Council. This project received funding under the National Development Plan (NDP) from the Urban and Regeneration Development Fund.The Minister and the Delivery Board also got to visit Tallaght Stadium to view their recently-completed fourth stand, which also received funding under the NDP. This visit was hosted by Colm Ward, Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council.Commenting on the visit to Tallaght, Minister Donohoe said: “The National Development Plan (NDP) is central to delivering the vital infrastructure we need to support our future economic and social requirements, as well as our climate change commitments.     Minister Paschal Donohoe has today (Friday 21 June) welcomed the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council’s (ECOFIN) adoption of Ireland’s modified National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) which includes Ireland’s €240m REPowerEU Programme.Ireland’s modified plan is now worth €1.15 billion (in grants) and covers 19 investments and 11 reforms.Commenting on the adoption, Minister Donohoe said:“Today, Ireland has secured €240million in EU grants through our National Recovery and Resilience Plan.This follows extensive engagement between Departments across Government and the EU Commission. The RRF is the main pillar of the European recovery plan, NextGenerationEU, designed to provide financial aid to Member States to combat the economic and social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and make the European economy more resistant to future shocks.”The overall objective of Ireland’s NRRP is to contribute to a sustainable, equitable, green and digital recovery effort, in a manner that complements and supports the Government’s broader recovery efforts.Read the full details at the link below⬇https://lnkd.in/d3_8riaX

    Yesterday (Tuesday 18 June) the Department held the second of two Knowledge Sharing Symposia on Disability Policy. Great discussion on disability policy, participation in education, employment and everyday life was had by representatives from Government Departments, Disabled Persons Organisations, service delivery organisations and the research community. Different stakeholders from the disability policy landscape came together to use a systems-thinking approach to look at the challenges and opportunities in relation to policy coherence in the disability policy space. The symposia are a key initiative under Better Public Services - the Public Service Transformation Strategy, focusing on evidence-informed policy and services designed for and with our public. Over the course of the day, participants took part in presentations, panel discussions and workshops, providing insights and experience from a diverse range of perspectives.
